PG&E officials decided against cutting power to customers in Sonoma, Napa and Lake counties on Monday while there's a heightened risk of fire.

About PG&E 58,000 customers in the three counties had been advised that the utility company might turn off the flow of electricity this week while temperatures are high, strong winds prevail and the conditions are dry.

Still, the company intends to pull the plug in parts of Butte, Nevada and Yuba counties at 5 p.m. on Monday, affecting 21,000 users.

Many of those customers reside at higher elevations and near wooded lands.

The company, however, said they may reverse their decision if necessary.

A red flag warning will be in effect from Monday night for parts of the North Bay, East Bay hills and areas north to Sacramento, Chico and Redding. It's not expected to be lifted until Wednesday.

Sonoma County officials have declared a state of emergency as a precaution in case there are power outages. For information, Sonoma residents can call 211.
