Cars driving through the Sonoma Valley will pass many signs while on the road. Some of them read “Thank you, first responders.” That's an allusion to their work extinguishing the Kincade fire, which swept through the area last month, burning more than 77,000 acres and destroying 374 structures.
One of those properties that was badly burned was the Soda Rock Winery in the Alexander Valley.
“It is, it is going to rise from the ashes,” said Mark Dankowski, a Soda Rock employee.
“It’s supposed to have seductive spice notes, fused with aromas of dark berries and forest floor,” said Dankowski. “Layers of sumptuous, fresh picked blackberry and black currant, laced with vanilla oak.”

A message on the front page of the Soda Rock website, published during the fire, reads: “We thank you all for the outpouring of concern for our beloved winery.”
