More than a dozen South Bay civic leaders have signed a pledge for equity in a direct response to the recent protests over the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis.
One by one, South Bay mayors, school board members, community leaders and lawmakers walked up to sign the pledge.
"We want to really take a look at how the budget gets dispersed and how an equity lens gets built into every decision that we make," Arenas said.
She hopes the organizers behind this pledge are going to work to get more civic leaders to sign on. Once they do, she plans to hold them to their word.
