When Warriors fans showed up at Chase Center the team's season opening Thursday night, the court wasn't the only thing that was new. For the first time, the team has its own band.

As the musicians recently practiced inside the Warriors practice facility in Oakland, band leader Ben Nadler was sorting sheet music for the first rehearsal of the full band.

"Everything we will play is Bay Area-based,” he told KCBS Radio.

Those hits include “Dance to the Music” by Sly and the Family Stone from San Francisco and “All Star” by SmashMouth from the South Bay.

“We're creating that boundary on purpose to challenge us,” Nadler said.

Javier Munoz, 28, of Brentwood, is an HVAC specialist when he's not playing trumpet at night with a punk band.

"This is a big thing for me yeah. Its like one of those 'I finally made it gigs,'" he said.

Chris Lundeen is a chemist by day and a trombone player by night. His friends still can't believe he's playing for the Warriors.

"The preseason home opener was a great opportunity to get in there and see the new stadium, the area that we're going to be playing in and get a feel for what that's going to be like before we go in for the first regular season game at Chase Center, which obviously is going to be a pretty big deal," he said.
