Congratulations — you've made it through another week. To help ease into the weekend, traffic reporter Bob Pryor has put together his indispensable guide with traffic tips and a rundown of the biggest events around the Bay Area. Every Friday, KCBS Radio publishes this Major Timesaver report. You can get the weekend guide sent straight to your phone by signing up for the RADIO.com app and making us one of your favorite stations. If you have a traffic tip or question of your own, we want to hear from you. Call the Phone Force at any time: (415) 391-KCBS.

Petaluma may be a pretty big town these days, but a sense of family, community, and of the region’s agricultural history will be on display at this weekend’s huge, annual Butter and Eggs Days. The Glen Park Festival is another family-friendly tradition that goes back many decades, and Half Moon Bay gets in on the festival action as well with the Pacific Coast Dream Machines event on Sunday.

For mass transit riders, be aware of a BART situation in the East Bay that is replacing some trains with bus service.

Drivers in the South Bay should note that road races in downtown San Jose will lead to many road closures on Saturday.

SOUTH BAY:

Sun, Apr 28 at 8am: The race is on with the “Silicon Valley Half,” which actually consists of four runs of varying distance, including one for kids, starting in downtown San Jose. The post-race celebration will take place at Arena Green East and will run until 2pm.

  • Pro tip: There will be many road closures in San Jose, from as far east as San Jose State University to as far west as the Rose Garden and as far north as Guadalupe River Park. “Downtown San Jose” covers a lot of ground. To see a complete listing of which roads will be closed and when, go here.

EAST BAY:

Sat, Apr 27 and Sun, Apr 28, all day: There will be no BART trains running between the Concord and Pleasant Hill Contra Costa Centre stations. Passengers will need to avail themselves of a free bus running between the two stops. Passengers whose trains travel through this area should add 20 minutes to their planned trip.

  • Pro tip: Passengers traveling toward San Francisco who normally park at Concord, North Concord, or Pittsburg/Bay Point stations, may want to consider parking for free at the Pleasant Hill Station. This interruption to service will repeat on May 11-12, May 25-27 and June 8-9. Passengers heading through this area on the very last train of the day should also read through the BART notice here for special information.

PENINSULA:

Sun, Apr 28 from 10am-4pm: At Half Moon Bay Airport: The annual Pacific Coast Dream Machines Show celebrates everything with an engine: There will be vintage, classic, custom, and sports cars; tricked-out trucks and motorcycles; military and SWAT vehicles; “warbird”-type aircraft; helicopter and plane rides; skydiving performances; monster truck rides; unimotorcycle drag races; thrill rides and live music.

  • Pro tip: The airport is located on Highway 1 about 5 miles north of Highway 92, and you don’t have to be a traffic reporter to know that this event is going to put extra traffic pressure onto both of those arteries. Smart travelers will get there early and take a double dose of patience pills for the drive home.

SAN FRANCISCO:Sun, Apr 28 from 10am-4:30pm: San Francisco: The annual Glen Park Festival will take place on Diamond Street between Bosworth and Chenery Streets and also on Wilder Street east of Diamond Street. The festival features live music, art-and-craft vendors, food trucks, beer and wine.

  • Pro tip: Weekend street parking may be scarce here, but the Glen Park BART station is right next door to the festival and MUNI’s J-Church line also stops on San Jose Avenue at Glen Park.
  • Areas and roadways affected: The following streets will be closed from 6am to 7pm: Diamond Street between Bosworth and Chenery streets, Wilder Street from Diamond to Carrie streets, and Kern Street from Diamond Street to Brompton Avenue.

NORTH BAY/SOLANO:

Sat, Apr 27 from 10am-5pm: Downtown Petaluma hosts the 38th Annual Butter and Egg Days Parade and Celebration and expects to attract more than 10,000 with a parade, arts and crafts, rides, food vendors and live entertainment.

  • Pro tip: Go here for a schedule of activities and a map of the celebration/parade area. There will be crowds!  Petaluma Transit will provide special Saturday service for free and, incidentally, will do the same for Sunday’s Antique Faire, which also draws several thousand people to downtown Petaluma.
