KCBS Radio won a prestigious National Edward R. Murrow Award for best newscast on Tuesday.
The Radio Television Digital News Association, which oversees the Murrow awards, recognized KCBS Radio for best newscast in large-market radio for coverage from Nov. 8, 2018.
The newscast that day, anchored by Jeff Bell and Patti Reising, was dominated by the destructive and fast-moving Camp Fire in Butte County where thousands had been evacuated from their homes. But the award-winning segment also included reports about the memorial service for San Francisco Giants icon Willie McCovey, the death of a Napa woman at a mass shooting in Southern California and Governor-elect Gavin Newsom's visit to a Tenderloin soup kitchen, as well as the station's signature traffic and sports updates.
