SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS RADIO) – Is Kyle Shanahan's Shana-hat no longer part of the Shana-plan for his sideline apparel this season?

The San Francisco 49ers' head coach says he has "beef" over his 2022 headwear options, but it might have been squashed ahead in time for the team's preseason opener on Friday night.
Shanahan, known so much for wearing flat-brimmed hats on the 49ers' sideline that the team actually sold some of said hats during their run to Super Bowl LIV, let it be known on KNBR's "Murph and Mac" on Wednesday he is none too pleased with his choices this season.
Or, in his eyes, a lack thereof.
"I have such beef with them right now," Shanahan told the hosts. "It is a tough issue going on. "They won't let me pick out my own one. They won't let me wear any one that's from a different year, so I can't wear, like, an older one. I gotta wear the new ones that they give this year and, unfortunately, there's none I like wearing."
Shanahan said he would consider waiting to wear a hat until November, when the NFL holds its "Salute to Service" month and wears military-themed apparel as a tribute to veterans and active personnel.
But Shanahan, apparently, settled on an option he could tolerate enough to wear one on Friday.
While most eyes at Levi's Stadium were trained on 2021 first-round pick Trey Lance in his first preseason start as the 49ers' No. 1 QB, Shanahan donned an all-black, flat-brimmed cap during the exhibition opener.

Asked on Wednesday if "they" or "them" he had beef with was the NFL, Shanahan deflected.
"No – I mean, it’s just deals. I don’t want to go too hard or get fined or anything," he said. "But trust me, trust me, I'm upset about it."
Shanahan kept his emotions in check long enough for Lance to wow 49ers fans. The 22-year-old threw for 92 yards, including a 76-yard touchdown, in his 2022 preseason debut.
Shanahan said he originally wore the all-red hat the team sold as long as he did out of superstition. If Lance plays like he did on Friday night moving forward, Shanahan's beef might not be enough to keep a hat off his head.
