Police at 7 p.m. responded to a request for a welfare check at a home on the 100 block of Vincent Street. Officers were contacted by a concerned family member who said they had not heard from the residents in several days, according to a police press release.

Authorities arrived at the scene and made contact with a man who was "disoriented and incoherent." They proceeded to enter the home and discovered an unresponsive woman and three children, whose conditions were not specified. KPIX reported that the children ranged from age six to 16.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

After receiving treatment, four of the residents were transported to a local hospital for additional treatment. They are all expected to recover.

"During the investigation, it was believed all occupants may have suffered from carbon monoxide exposure," officials said.

Responding Pacific Gas and Electric representatives measured a "very high level of carbon monoxide" inside the residence.

Officials believe the source of the exposure was the residence's heater, however they noted that "crews are still working to confirm this."

The investigation remains ongoing, and no other details were released.
