The two-alarm blaze was described as a "heavy fire" in the first floor unit of a two-story apartment complex, officials said. Within 15 minutes of arriving at the scene, firefighters were able to control the flames.

The fire caused significant damage to the apartment and caused smoke damage to three other units, according to the department. One bearded dragon was saved, but a cat was found dead.
