A Northern California fire burned 1,200 acres before Wednesday afternoon, not far from the site of one of the state’s most devastating wildfires.

CAL FIRE dubbed it the Dixie Fire, saying it started Tuesday night as a vegetation fire near Highway 70 in Butte County. The Dixie Fire was 0% contained as of Wednesday night, although fire officials said earlier in the day it had moved entirely into Plumas County and away from Butte County’s populated areas.

The fire continues to burn approximately 30 miles away from the location of the Camp Fire, the 2018 blaze that destroyed more than 11,000 homes in the town of Paradise and killed 85 people.

The Camp Fire remains the deadliest wildfire in California history.

The Butte County Sheriff’s Office issued evacuation warnings for the Pulga and East Concow areas on Wednesday morning, both of which remained in effect as of Wednesday night.
