A federal jury handed down guilty verdicts to Robert Manning, 28, and Jamare Coats, 26, on Monday after a three-week trial. The charges against the pair stem from a shootout three years earlier, where one victim was murdered and several others were shot on Fillmore Street in San Francisco, the U.S. Attorney’s Office Northern District of California reported.

During the trial, it was alleged that Manning and Coats were members of a notorious street gang, Mac Block. According to the justice department, the men provoked a deadly shootout to "maintain and increase their position in the Mac Block street gang."

24 bullets were fired into a crowded sidewalk in March of 2019, striking four innocent bystanders, as well as a third person who died while engaging in the shootout. One of the victims was shot in the spine, leaving them paralyzed from the waist down.

Manning and Coats were convicted with murder in aid of racketeering and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Awaiting sentencing, the men face a mandatory sentence of life in prison and an additional 10 years and a $250,000 fine for the felon in possession charge.
