A blaze has been contained that was sending up a large plume of dark smoke at 22nd Avenue between Noriega and Moraga. The fire department said one person was in serious condition after suffering burns and one firefighter was injured in the fire.
A listener told KCBS Radio they heard the sound of an explosion. "We have heard the numerous reports of an explosion, we have heard the numerous reports of houses being shaken," San Francisco Fire Captain Jonathan Baxter told KCBS Radio. "PG&E is on scene assisting us with this fire and the subsequent investigation that will follow to determine if this was gas oriented."
The blaze impacted three residential homes. One home was completely destroyed in the fire and explosion. A neighbor described the door being blown off its hinges and windows being blown out of a building across the street. "That would be indicative of an explosion," Baxter said.
Fire officials warned residents to stay away from the area, but confirmed that there was no threat to the general public, calling the fire an isolated incident. Over 100 firefighters and public safety members were at the scene.
