SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS RADIO) – A total of 37 California restaurants are being added to this year's Michelin Guide under new discoveries according to an announcement on Wednesday.

Although those new inductees don't know where in the guide they'll end up, just making it in is a huge accomplishment.
Any of the 37 could be ranked as Bib Gourmand – which means they are included in the guide but aren’t given any stars.
But others could wind up as the illustrious few that have had stars awarded to them.
Seven Bay Area restaurants made the list this year – Osito, Itria, Ken, and Yuji in San Francisco, Bird & Buffalo and Hi Felicia in Oakland, and Cyrus in Geyserville.
"It feels important to be – like the work you do be honored," said Chef and owner of Osito, Seth Stowaway.
Osito is a live-fire restaurant in the Mission District that opened almost a year ago, when many restaurants were floundering during the pandemic. Before the accolades, the restaurant got by with prayers and hard work.
"There were moments of just like – on the ground, in tears, this definitely is not going to happen," said Stowaway.
But after making it through the trials and tribulations of opening a restaurant in the midst of the pandemic, the recognition feels like a milestone.
"I feel like someone like me, or someone in our industry who like really loves this, it’s a huge honor," he said.
The Michelin Star winners and Bib Gourmand winners will be announced on Dec. 5 at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles.
