All 6 suspects arrested in beating death of Hayward man after monthslong investigation

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS RADIO) – The sixth and final suspect in the beating death of a 25-year-old Hayward resident last year was finally apprehended on Wednesday, according to Hayward police.

On Oct. 4, 2021, officers responded to a report of an unconscious man on the ground at the 400 block of W. A Street. After arriving at the scene at around 6:50 p.m., 25-year-old Yeison Toroc, of Hayward, was found suffering injuries consistent with assault.

Toroc was transported to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

According to reporting by Bay City News, Toroc and one of the suspects had known each other for several years and had fallen out over a drug dispute.

Toroc was outside a laundromat a little before 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 4 when he was confronted and ordered to leave the area, the outlet reported.

When he hadn't left several hours later, suspects pulled up in a vehicle, got out, and proceeded to beat him to the ground, stomped on, kicked, and even hit him in the head and face with a beer bottle, according to the outlet. It was 15 minutes before authorities were called.

After a lengthy, multi-month investigation from multiple Bay Area law enforcement agenies, the six suspects involving in the assault were identified a couple of weeks ago.

On June 30, four of the six identified suspects were arrested with the assistance of the Union City Police Department, Fremont Police Department, Oakland Police Department and San Leandro Police Department.

The four arrested a couple of weeks ago were identified as Cristian Inocencio, 19, of Fremont, Jonathan Delacruz, 24, of Union City, Daniel Angulo-Armenta, 20 and Kevin Gonzalez, 27, both of Hayward.

The following week on July 5, another suspect, 48-year-old Hayward resident, Juan Navarro, was arrested by Hayward Police. Finally, on Wednesday, Victor Lucero, 31, of Oakland, was arrested as part of a joint effort between Hayward Police and the South Monterey County Task Force.

The investigation is still active and ongoing.
