Bay Area news anchor Frank Somerville has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence following a crash in downtown Oakland.
At around 7:45 p.m. on Thursday, a car crash was reported near the intersection of West Grand Ave. and Broadway, the East Bay Times reported. Police and media sources confirmed that Somerville was arrested at the scene.

According to Oakland police, a driver in a Porsche hit a vehicle from behind and then pushed the vehicle across the intersection into a pole. Somerville was taken to Highland Hospital for an evaluation and to receive a blood alcohol test, the newspaper said. Investigators determined that he allegedly had been driving under the influence at the time.
Somerville was booked into Santa Rita Jail in Dublin, but has since been released with a citation to appear in court at a future date, the newspaper said.
The arrest and crash rounded up a difficult year for Somerville, who was suspended from KTVU in September after a dispute regarding the Gabby Petito case.
KCBS Radio has reached out to the Oakland Police Department about the arrest, but has not yet heard back.
