Any commuter in the Bay Area has had to sit in grueling traffic at some point, sometimes for hours, just to get home.

But even those experiences are nothing compared to what’s to come this weekend.

Multiple in-person events are colliding over the next few days, in an almost pre-pandemic docket of festivities.

The Giants are playing the Dodgers Friday night and in another game Saturday night in the playoff series at Oracle Park. The Warriors have a preseason game against the Lakers at Chase Center also Friday night.

It’s also Fleet Week. The Blue Angels will be drawing crowds all weekend with air shows and stunts. On Sunday, North Beach will also be hosting the Italian American Parade.

The busy weekend will be sure to draw people in from all over the Bay Area, clogging roadways and creating a "carmageddon."

Fortunately, BART is nearly back to full service, according to the transit agency’s spokesperson Chris Filipi.

"We’re going to be able to run trains well into the night, into midnight, giving people an opportunity to get to and from the game," he said. "And then for Fleet Week, on Sunday, we’re going to be taking three extra event trains."

Passengers should still don their masks while on the trains and while in proximity to others.

Even if it might feel like the city has returned to normal this weekend, it’s not quite there yet.
