The Santa Clara County Fire Department said on Friday afternoon it would be "some time" before a four-alarm fire burning in an empty, three-story commercial building in Campbell would no longer be considered an active incident.
Firefighters responded to the scene just after 10 a.m. on Friday, following reports of smoke from a building in the area of Dell Avenue and Knowles Drive. Officials closed off parts of nearby Division Street and Winchester Boulevard, but they didn't issue evacuation orders, warnings or shelter in place.
The Los Gatos Creek Trail closed in both directions, and the building itself collapsed in the middle of the afternoon.
Dell Avenue and Knowles Drive intersect less than a mile from Netflix's Los Gatos offices at 100 Winchester Circle.
Smoke remained visible to nearby ALERTWildfire cameras well into Friday afternoon, as the fire burned near the Los Gatos border. Air quality worsened in the surrounding area, with AirNow's fire and smoke map showing unhealthy air quality well into the middle of Friday afternoon.
Officials didn't report any injuries in the fire as of Friday afternoon, nor had they shared a cause.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
