The Rio Vista Police Department on Friday night said officers arrested an unidentified Tracy woman, 32 and on probation for "auto theft," following a chase along California State Route 12. She surrendered to police after the allegedly stolen Toyota SUV was stuck in a field, and first responders examined her after she "exited the car without her pants."
The Tracy woman allegedly stole the silver vehicle during a carjacking in San Rafael, according to Rio Vista police, during which the car's driver was "dragged behind the vehicle." The San Rafael Police Department didn't respond to KCBS Radio's emailed request for comment on Monday night about the alleged theft.
When the car entered Rio Vista, the city's camera system alerted police to its presence. The driver allegedly rammed into a Rio Vista police vehicle near Drouin Drive and Esperson Court, before driving "westbound on Highway 12 out of town."
After driving off the road "several times" and popping a rear tire, the car was stuck in a field north of State Route 12 and west of Highway 113. Officers from the Solano County Sheriff's Office and California Highway Patrol then provided backup, according to police.
The woman ultimately surrendered to officers, and Montezuma Fire Protection District personnel inspected her for injuries. Staff at a local hospital inspected her for injuries, before officers booked her into the Solano County Jail in Fairfield.
