Over the past two decades, Manresa, an upscale establishment located in Los Gatos, has won three Michelin stars and survived two fires. But now, founder David Kinch has announced his plans to step down in December.

"It's a wonderful place with great food," Pamela Ziemik, a Los Gatos local, told KCBS Radio, expressing her desire for the restaurant to stay open.

Kinch is reportedly selling the business and plans to focus more of his attention on his other South Bay restaurants, leaving Manresa’s fate uncertain. His alternate projects include the Bywater in Los Gatos, Mentone in Aptos and the chain Manresa Bread.

"It's disappointing if they end up closing, it's going to be a blow to the city," Ziemik said. "It's been here a long, long time and it's well known and, like I said, the quality is good. It's a place that people say 'hey let's go there.'"

The executive chef's decision may be due to a desire to move away from fine dining as he continues his career.
