The incident occurred at approximately 2:07 p.m. on Friday at the Lululemon located at 432 University Avenue, according to a police press release. Authorities received a report that a group of people had stolen clothing and fled in a BMX5 utility vehicle. In addition, police were also notified one minute later about a hit-and-run collision involving a vehicle with a similar description.
Law enforcement’s subsequent investigation found that two men and one woman entered the store, and fled, without paying, to a getaway vehicle operated by at least one other person. The vehicle drove southbound on Cowper Street, and ran a stop sign at the intersection of Homer Avenue, striking a 2010 Toyota pick-up truck driven by a man in his twenties, authorities said. No injuries resulted from the collision and both vehicles sustained minor damage. The four alleged thieves did not stop and continued driving away after hitting the other car.
Lululemon were able to give authorities a description of the getaway vehicle, including its license plate.
"Through investigative leads," police located the vehicle, a silver 2005 BMX 5, driving eastbound on Highway 92 in Foster City on the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge. They stopped the car in the 27000 block of Industrial Avenue in Hayward, and took the five occupants into custody at 2:34 p.m.
Authorities recovered all of the stolen property, which totaled 54 items worth approximately $5,800.
Four of the five vehicle occupants were booked into Santa Clara Main Jail, while the fifth occupant was released without charges.
"The four suspects, all of whom police booked for felony organized retail theft, were 26-year-old Modesto resident Dominique Chaz Shawaun Carter, 25-year-old Modesto resident Anita Snell, 24-year-old Modesto resident Maliyah Fa Janay Scott, and 20-year-old Stockton resident Jamil Naylor Harris Jr.," police said in their release.

In addition, Carter was also booked for two misdemeanor hit-and-run charges and two outstanding felony warrants, one for grand theft and fraudulent possession of personal identifying information out of the Glendale Police Department, and the other for organized retail theft and possession of stolen property out of the Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Department.
Snell was also booked on a previous felony warrant for grand theft from San Jose Police.
