Classes were canceled Thursday morning at Bubb Elementary School in Mountain View after a threat was received directed at staff and students.

The threat came in early that morning in an email, alleging there was a bomb on campus, according to Mountain View Whisman School District spokesperson Shelly Hausman.

The Mountain View Police Department was notified around 6 a.m., and officers are currently investigating the threat, according to Officer Katie Nelson.

A thorough search was coordinated between staff and officers, and nothing has been found on the campus.

While Nelson confirmed there is no direct threat to public safety, school administrators thought it best to close the school for the day.

Officers have been stationed around the campus, and will be stationed at other campuses throughout the day, "just to ensure the safety of students and staff," said Nelson.

At Bubbs, "We were just there to help ensure that [parents] got the message," said Nelson.

The school has about 359 students currently enrolled. Class will most likely be back in session as normal by Friday, she said.
