Significant progress has been made in battling the Caldor Fire over the weekend. Authorities have started lifting some evacuation orders in El Dorado County as a result of the efforts.
The Caldor fire had burned 215,400 acres by Sunday morning, and the Cal Fire’s online updates said the fire was 43% contained.

The persistent efforts from firefighters battling the blaze has resulted in evacuation orders in some of the Caldor Fire’s western zones being lifted, The Union reported.
A press release from Cal Fire reported that residents in communities living near Omo Ranch Road, the Mormon Emigrant Trail, and the Community of Blue Mountainare now under evacuation advisories instead of orders.
In other areas in El Dorado County, including communities near Camino Heights, Ant Hill, and Springer/Leisure, the evacuation warnings are being lifted altogether, the release stated.
Weather conditions have played a key role in allowing Cal Fire to establish a much greater control over the Caldor Fire. Wind activity was significantly affecting the growth of the fire just a week ago.

For citizens returning to their homes in formerly evacuated areas, it is recommended that they continue to watch the fires as conditions may change, the release said. Some roads throughout El Dorado County will also remain closed due to the fire.
As of Sunday, 712 residences, including 200 other structures, were confirmed destroyed due to the Caldor fire, with nine total injuries being suffered, the release said. There have been no reported deaths from the fire.
Almost 5,00 firefighters, including those from out of state, are still on the scene of the fire, battling the blaze. Authorities are still not sure what caused the fire at this time.
