"Bay" refers to the area and community we serve, and stands for the iconic, local body of water we all know and love. "Current" hits on the nautical theme too, plus what we've been doing at KCBS Radio for over 100 years: bringing you timely news, information and current events.

You may have guessed – and correctly – the title is not unintentional.

Every single day, "Bay Current" aims to keep you current on what the Bay Area is talking about. Some days it might be a conventional hard news story, like when I spoke one-on-one with California Attorney General Rob Bonta about the rising numbers of hate crimes in the Bay Area and statewide.

Other days we'll bring you a lighter, slice-of-life story about something really cool happening around the Bay Area, like the afternoon I spent with KCBS Radio's Holly Quan, as she – quite deservedly – was inducted into the Bay Area Radio Hall of Fame at a luncheon in South San Francisco.

Here's our "Bay Current" goal: We'll keep you informed and plugged into the biggest and most important stories – and keep you current and connected to the many fun, interesting and, yes, even weird things going on.

Why? Because covering news and events in a place as unique, diverse and interesting as the Bay Area requires us as journalists and storytellers to be nimble and adapt. Think of it in the same way a skipper of a vessel would navigate swift moving and ever-changing currents in the San Francisco Bay.

New episodes of "Bay Current" will be delivered to your ears every weekday morning at 7 a.m. Please subscribe in your favorite podcast app, or wherever you listen. Your feedback and ideas are truly welcome! We also invite you to give "Bay Current" a follow on Twitter to get behind-the-scenes content, leave your comments on what we're doing and pitch story ideas.

We hope you'll love listening to it as much as we love making it!
