A 22-year-old man died in Fairfield on Friday after police responded to reports of a shooting.
The Fairfield Police Department said officers were dispatched to the1900 block of Grande Circle around 1:30 p.m. Friday.
Responding personnel located a male subject with gunshot wounds and initiated CPR until fire and medical personnel arrived on scene and took over.
The local 22-year-old male victim was transported to an area hospital, but succumbed to his injuries.
An initial investigation has found that it appears the male victim contacted a group, and an altercation occurred resulting in a shooting. No other details are known as of Friday evening.
Investigators will be on scene for an extended period of time, and the public is asked to avoid the area until they have cleared.
