Firefighters have made some headway against the three wildfires currently ravaging Northern California.
The Lava Fire, Salt Fire and Tennant Fire ignited this week near Mount Shasta sending heavy smoke billowing over Shasta County.
Evacuations were called north of Redding as the Salt Fire threatened residents. Several houses were burned by the blaze. Officials narrowed the cause of the Salt Fire down to materials which flew off a vehicle, causing a spark. They asked for the public's help in tracking down the vehicle earlier this week.
Containment of the Lava Fire, which spread at the foot of Mount Shasta, increased to 27%, allowing several thousand residents of Lake Shastina to return home.
At 12 p.m. Saturday, the evacuation was also lifted for residents in some areas of Lakehead, officials reported.
The fires had burned an estimated 60 square miles of land as of Friday.
