Flash flooding warnings in effect for greater San Francisco, Oakland areas

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS RADIO) – San Francisco, San Mateo, Alameda, and Contra Costa counties are under flash flood warnings Friday afternoon as rain continues to fall over the Bay Area.

The flash flood warning for northwestern Alameda and west central Contra Costa counties is in effect until 6 p.m. Friday. This warning impacts areas including Oakland, Berkeley, Richmond, Alameda, San Pablo, El Cerrito, Albany, Pinole, Piedmont, Emeryville, Kensington, Rollingwood, El Sobrante, Tara Hills, East Richmond Heights, and Bayview-Montalvin. This area has already seen about an inch of rain and is expected to see up to three more inches of rain.

San Francisco was under a flash flood warning that went into effect just before 1 p.m. and expired at 3:45 p.m. Northwestern San Mateo County had a flash flood warning in for several hours Friday afternoon.

In each of the warning areas, flash flooding has already been happening and could get worse as rain continues to fall.
