Pani has several medical and mental conditions and has been deemed gravely disabled by officials. He was involuntarily detained for a 72-hour psychiatric hospitalization in San Mateo after locking himself in a vehicle for three days without eating or drinking, police said.

Pani was last seen barefoot wearing a gray hoodie, light blue vest and blue hospital pants. He is of middle eastern descent, is five feet ten inches tall and weighs 130 pounds. He is anti-social and will likely hide or run from people if approached, police said.

Officers searched for Pani on Thursday following his disappearance, but were unable to locate him. In past situations after fleeing, Pani has walked into grocery stores to ask for food and water and may ask strangers to use their cell phone or get a ride. His parents said he is known to isolate himself in vacant parks or dumpster areas.

The photo shown to identify Pani is about one year old. He now has shoulder-length hair.
