Starting in March employees will start to shift into their new schedule so the company can be "fully functional" in their hybrid work style by April, Google told KCBS Radio in an email.

The hybrid approach was inspired by their employees and is designed to allow flexibility while still maintaining "innovation and collaboration" in the office, the tech company said.

Googlers will spend about three days in the office and two days working from where they desire. Employees can choose to work from home more often but some positions may need to be on campus more than three days a week due to their scheduled work, Google said.

Google will continue with their original vaccine policy, which requires employees to receive the COVID-19 vaccine or have an approved accommodation for those entering the physical workspaces. The employees who cannot be vaccinated due to medical or other protected reasons will be accommodated and those who are not vaccinated but have been approved to come onsite will be tested regularly, the company said.

Google said some other U.S. locations will follow and start to move into hybrid work week.
