SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS RADIO) – After a two-year pandemic-induced hiatus, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass starts once again on Friday in Golden Gate Park.

The free festival is one of San Francisco's most beloved events that went by the wayside along with many others once the pandemic hit in 2020.

This year mark's its 22nd year in operation in the city. It's back in its original location in Golden Gate Park between the Polo Field and Haight Street.

There are four stages and four different entrances going into the festival.

"Operationally we want to make sure that there's a good flow at all of the entrances," said Sheri Sternberg, Executive Producer of Hardly Strictly Bluegrass.

"And that people really come and enjoy themselves and relax," she said.

While coolers are prohibited due to safety concerns, people are allowed to bring in their own beverages, except for hard alcohol, and nothing made of glass.

"Unfortunately in the country today there's just a lot of realistic concerns about weapons," said Sternberg.

Some of the major acts that will be packing the four stages include Emmylou Harris, Elvis Costello and Steve Earle.

But people shouldn't limit themselves just to the big names, several other acts are on deck as well.

"Just try and see a lot of bands that they've never heard of before," said Sternberg.
