Mt. Diablo High School in Concord underwent a short lockdown Monday morning after a student was found with a gun magazine, according to reporting by KPIX.
School staff called in police at 9:44 a.m. because the student was allegedly seen with the gun magazine.
The principal then locked down the school’s campus while police located the student and the magazine, which had ammunition in it, according to Concord Police Department’s Lt. Tamra Roberts.

No threats were made, and the student did not have the gun with them. The gun associated with the magazine was at a residence far away from the school, Roberts said.
The police department tweeted that the lockdown had been lifted at 10:51 a.m.
A police report of the incident has been sent to the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office for review. Prosecutors will decide whether to charge the student with a criminal offense.
In the meantime, the student was suspended from school, according to Roberts.
