Thursday is expected to be the hottest day with forecasters predicting temperatures in the low 90's inland and low to mid 80's near the coast.
"For this time of year, it definitely is you know not something we would normally see," Sarah McCorkle told KCBS Radio. "We're actually supposed to be for the hottest day on Thursday we are going to be 15 to 20 degrees above normal."
McCorkle is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, she said Northwest swells are expected to bring in some larger waves at the coast.
"Be mindful of strong waves coming in we have waves breaking at around 10 feet," she said. "So, just continue to be careful if you plan to get into the water."
The high temperatures may not break the record high heat that hit the first week in April of 1989 when it got up to 89 degrees in Livermore.
McCorkle said temperatures are expected to cool down slightly Friday and return to normal for the weekend.
