SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS RADIO) – The Mosquito Fire has been raging in Placer County since the beginning of the month, quickly becoming the largest wildfire in California of the year.

While authorities have been taking measures to combat the fire, other problems have cropped up as well – most recently with the discovery of human remains in an area threatened by the fire.
According to a Facebook post by the Placer County Sheriff's Office, deputies received a call just before 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
When they arrived at the scene on Cold Springs Drive, in Foresthill, they found what appeared to be human remains.
Upon the discovery, detectives began investigating what actually happened and the investigation is still ongoing.
"We want to reassure community members we don't believe there is any imminent threat or danger to them at this time," said the post.
No further information or update has been provided yet.
As of Friday afternoon, the Mosquito Fire had reached 76,788 acres and was 90% contained. Currently, an investigation is underway about whether or not PG&E was responsible in any way.
