SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS RADIO) – At a time when landmark businesses are going under, one popular San Francisco donut joint is growing.

Bob's Donuts on Polk Street has been a Nob Hill mainstay since the 1960s. Open 24 hours, people line up at all times of day and night for the shop’s iconic apple fritters and giant donuts, as well as other more classic options.

Now the shop is owned by Aya Ahn, who has owned and made the delicious treats for nearly 20 years. Bob’s has another location at 601 Baker St., which opened just a few years ago.

For the first time ever, the shop is going to be branching out of the city into two new locations.

The first to open likely by the end of the month, will be in Mill Valley, at 252 Almonte Blvd., according to reporting by the San Francisco Chronicle.

Sadly for Mill Valley residents, it won't be open 24 hours – it’ll be open 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. initially, according to the paper.

The other location will be in San Jose's glitzy Santana Row, an upscale shopping district known for its expensive stores.

The opening for that location has been tentatively marked for summer 2023, the paper reported.

Opening a shop in Mill Valley has special meeting for the owners, as it's where Ahn raised her daughter.

While Ahn has been operating the shop since the early 2000s, Bob’s was first bought by her mother, Eleanor in 1977, the paper reported.
