San Rafael police arrested a juvenile after a threatening post was made on social media against San Rafael's Davidson Middle School on Friday.
The threat included intention to harm both students and faculty, and after concerned parents and students notified police around 8 p.m. Friday, evening, an investigation was launched.
School officials were notified, and through working with the social media provider to track down the poster, authorities were able to make an arrest less than 24 hours later.
After a brief interview in which the juvenile responsible was identified, they were booked into Marin County Juvenile Hall just after 3 p.m. on Saturday.
Officials determined that despite the threats, the juvenile did not have the means to follow through.
"SRPD takes all threats seriously and is committed to ensuring that students, parents, and faculty are safe while attending school," said a press release by the San Rafael Police Department. "We are grateful to the parents and students who did the right thing and notified SRPD immediately upon seeing the social media post."
"This is a perfect example of, 'See something, say something,'" said the post.
The Marin County District Attorney's Office will review the case. The suspect’s identity has not been made public as they are a minor.
