
KCBS Radio has won five prestigious Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards for coverage of various news events and stories in 2020.
The annual awards, which honor "outstanding achievements in electronic journalism," and are presented to news organizations by the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA). The station's winning entries were selected from a group of stations across California, Nevada and Hawaii.

News Series: KCBS Radio's Kathy Novak visited California's hard-hit Central Valley to profile COVID-19's devastating impact on the people who harvest and process food for much of the West Coast.
In part one, a nonprofit manager pivoted his organization when needs changed drastically. In part two, workers spoke out about high-risk conditions on the job. In part three, people who risk their lives to pick our fruit struggled to make ends meet. In part four, school closures put extra pressure on farmworker families. In part five, an eye-catching roadside display hoped to turn the tide of the pandemic.

Podcast: The station joined the national "I'm Listening" campaign to promote awareness about suicide prevention and end the stigma around mental health. KCBS Radio's "In Depth," hosted by Keith Menconi and Patti Reising, highlighted the work of Bay Area community groups in providing mental health support during a time of crisis and uncertainty.
KCBS Radio was also honored in the Breaking News Coverage and Continuing Coverage categories for coverage of Bay Area-based protests over the death of George Floyd and the COVID-19 crisis, respectively.
The RTDNA announced Regional winners nationwide on Thursday, with the honored work advancing to the National Edward R. Murrow Award competition.
