Crews are continuing to assess the damage from the Cache Fire which ripped through a Lake County mobile home park Wednesday afternoon.
It is estimated that about four dozen Lake County homes were lost in the blaze which erupted at approximately 2 p.m. Wednesday and quickly grew to 80 acres with 20% containment.

Greg Knowlton, a resident of a neighboring Cache Creek mobile home park, told KCBS Radio that the evacuation was chaotic.
"We helped them (the emergency crews) a little bit, making some pathways into the mobile home park, but then we realized we needed to get out," Knowlton recalled. "One older gal, I saw firemen carrying her out. She was fever burned."

Knowlton is a longtime Lake County resident. Fires aren’t anything new for him, but he was still at a loss for words looking over the damage. "This is…this is bad, a lot of people’s homes went up in smoke," he said, describing the area as "decimated."

Roughly 1,300 residents remain under evacuation orders.
Lake County Sheriff Bryan Martin estimated that it will take a couple days before they are allowed to return. "There are some people who won’t be able to come back at all," he said.
