A city in Alameda County has kickstarted plans to build a Chick-fil-A.
The Livermore City Council will hold a meeting on Monday to give their final approval for the popular Georgia-based fast-food chain.
Once approved, the chain will begin construction on North Livermore Ave. near Interstate 580, occupying one-and-a-half acres on a 23 acre open space.
Under the proposal pitched to Livermore by developers, the remaining 21.5 acres will be maintained as undeveloped land. The Chick-fil-A will also be required to make improvements to a nearby stream and walking trail, as well as contribute $225,000 for future trail construction in the area.
The highly anticipated Chick-fil-A has been a topic of conversation on Twitter for some time, with eager fans urging the city to build their all-time favorite fast-food restaurant.
However, Chick-fil-A has also been met with criticism for donating to charities that oppose LGBTQ+ rights. The company has since said it redirected its sponsorship efforts to focus on education, homelessness, and hunger.
