A Petaluma salon cut hair for 16 straight hours Friday ahead of Sonoma County's voluntary COVID-19 lockdown.
Sonoma is the latest Bay Area county to announce it's going into lockdown ahead of California’s requirements due to a spike in coronavirus cases.
“We thought we had another day, but we actually only have until 12:01 [Saturday morning],” said Fox and the Hair owner Lani Bushnell.

Bushnell said they’re using every minute of the time left by working until midnight Friday. She told KCBS Radio that they plan to pop some champagne and order takeout from a restaurant down the street to get them all through the night.
“We’re just going to keep going and do as many people as we can,” Bushnell said. “These are all our regular people, so they really appreciate it.”
One of those regulars, Carol Tomini, got a call from Bushnell to move up her appointment scheduled for next weekend. She said this isn’t just about hair.
“It’s for your mental health,” Tomini told KCBS Radio. “It’s really important, and you just can’t let yourself so far go, and expect yourself to be able to operate at your best ability. This is the kind of thing that’s going to sustain not only the economy, but your well-being.”
The closure means more hard times for Bushnell and her staff, but she’s found a way to remain positive.
“We’re all just bonding together and supporting each other, whatever we need,” Bushnell noted. “Whether it be food, or helping each other pay our bills, or whatever it is, we’ve got a little family here. So, I feel pretty blessed.”
