"It sounds like a very big explosion," resident Nicole Ramirez told KCBS Radio. "It's not just like a firecracker explosion but like a deep, large explosion. It feels somewhat underground. We can feel it in the Earth, almost."

The Marin County Sheriff's Office has confirmed to KCBS Radio that yes, there are some very real explosions booming regularly here, at least six of which have happened in the last month.

They've been coming from all over San Geronimo Valley.

Though its still unclear what's causing the loud sounds, a sheriff's deputy discovered "evidence that someone had lit some type of unknown device that damaged a large tree" near what's thought to be the site of one of the mysterious explosions last Sunday, according to KGO.

It is a mystery.

"It could be a drone that's dropping explosives from the air," Ramirez's friend, Julie Ann, speculated. "There's other speculation that our galactic friends are here to say hello. That's their way of…saying hello to the valley."

Authorities have deployed additional resources to locate the individual or persons responsible.
