Oakland mayor to crack down after weekend with 50 reported robberies

OAKLAND Calif. (KCBS RADIO) – Robbers are on a crime spree in Oakland, with as many as 50 thefts in a weekend, and a growing trend of underage perpetrators.

Some of the robberies included carjackings, shootings and other assaults, said Interim Police Chief Darren Allison at a news conference with Mayor Sheng Thao.

Police said they have made some key arrests in the case, KCBS Radio's Raquel Maria Dillon reports from Oakland's City Hall.
