The incident occurred at approximately 5:46 a.m. A "person in crisis" entered the trackway and was struck by a train, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

BART spokesperson James Allison confirmed to KCBS Radio that a person entered the trackway and was rescued, but did not say definitively that they were hit by a train, instead saying a collision "may have occurred." The victim was transported to a Alta Bates Medical Center, Allison said.

No other information was released, including the victim’s identity and an update on their current condition.

As a result of the emergency medical situation, the station was closed for around 25 minutes, reopening just after 6 a.m.
