A former Contra Costa County police officer has been charged for making a secret sex tape that he allegedly shared with multiple people.
Anthony Vasquez, 24, resigned from the Pinole Police Department after being charged with a felony and a misdemeanor for taking a video of the woman without her consent. Contra Costa County prosecutors initially opened an investigation against Vasquez in May after receiving a tip from the ex-officer’s cousin, The Mercury News reported.
Vasquez allegedly recorded videos and photos of him having sex with women before sending them to 17 people in a text message group known as "The Mafia."
One of the women confirmed to officers that she had never consented to being filmed or having the documentation shared. Officials are now attempting to identify a second woman.
"This type of conduct will not be tolerated, which is why we took immediate action as soon as we learned of the situation," Police Chief Neil Gang said. "We know behavior such as this can damage the trust and partnership between law enforcement and the community. The egregious behavior of one, does not reflect the hardworking women and men of the Pinole Police Department."
Vasquez, who left the police force in June, believes that he will be able to prove that everything was done with full consent of those involved, the newspaper said.
