On July 18, officers responded to Starbread Bakery in Pittsburg after being notified that a customer destroyed part of the bakery display and attacked employees, Pittsburg police said. With the help of the bakery, community and media; officers identified Pittsburg resident Lolani Finau as the suspect, police reported.
Pittsburg police got the surveillance camera footage and caught Finau throwing the register at employees and ruining their plastic COVID-19 safety shields. A warrant for his arrest has been obtained but police are still looking for him.
Managers told KTVU that Finau had previously been kicked out of the Bakery around the holidays for not social distancing from a customer. They told him not to come back.
When he returned on July 18 employees let him buy bread but reminded him not to return. He told them that his twin brother was to blame for breaking COVID-19 safety guidelines, the news station said. He then demanded respect from the employees and that is when the situation escalated.
Multiple cameras show him punching one employee in the head and in the eye. The owner tried to keep Finau away from other employees and ended up needing an arm cast for her injuries, KTVU reported.
