San Francisco Police have arrested a suspect in an aggravated assault on an elderly woman walking on the Embarcadero last month.

Police said at approximately 7:03 a.m. on May 14, officers responded to a report of a 73-year-old woman who was abruptly knocked down by a suspect at the Embarcadero Waterfront. The woman was left unconscious on the sidewalk and bleeding from her head as the suspect sprinted away from the scene.

The victim was eventually transported to the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital after witnesses came to her aid. Medical staff later told police she suffered a concussion, several cracked ribs and significant bruises from the assault.

Witnesses told police the suspect was wearing distinct athletic attire. Police were also able to obtain video of the attack, which showed the suspect intentionally running towards the victim and knocking her to the ground.

An off-duty officer with the San Francisco Police was jogging along the same waterfront on May 25 around 8 p.m. when they spotted an individual who matched the suspect’s description and wearing a similar outfit from a crime bulletin.

Investigators eventually obtained an arrest warrant. 34-year-old Toure Clark was arrested on June 1 after being recognized at a Giants baseball game. He was booked into the San Francisco County Jail on three felony charges of battery with serious bodily injury, aggravated assault causing great bodily injury, and elder abuse causing great bodily injury.

While an arrest had been made, police say the incident remains and open and active investigation.
