Police search for car in connection with attempted homicide of former Oakland captain

Oakland police are asking for the public's help locating a car in connection with the shooting of a former police captain.

Retired Oakland police captain and former Ceasefire head Ersie Joyner was hospitalized on Thursday after being shot during a robbery at a gas station.

Authorities are now searching for the vehicle associated with the robbery, a black, 4-door 2007 Nissan Sentra with tinted windows, custom rims and a San Francisco 49ers licence plate frame.

Chief LeRonne Armstrong said during a press conference that there were multiple assailants involved in the robbery. One died during the shooting, but the others have not been identified.

Joyner remains at Highland Hospital where police report that he is in critical but stable condition.
