Police: SF road rage incident leads to 2 attempted murder arrests

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS RADIO) – Officers are investigating a road rage incident in downtown San Francisco on Wednesday afternoon which resulted in two people being arrested for attempted murder after one of them allegedly brandished and fired a gun.

Police responded to reports of shots fired at approximately 4:15 p.m. in the area of Lombard Street and Laguna Street, authorities said in a release.

One of the drivers told officers he had been involved in a road rage incident with another driver, resulting in a non-injury vehicle collision. The other driver allegedly proceeded to exit his car and brandish and fire a gun before fleeing the scene. The victim was uninjured.

Officers located the suspect's vehicle and engaged in a brief pursuit, which ended in the suspect's vehicle colliding with another vehicle on Market Street near Front Street. Authorities rendered aid to all the individuals involved in the crash, including the two occupants of the suspects' vehicle, identified as 28-year-old Marcus Yingling of Pittsburg and 30-year-old Sonya Orozco of Vallejo.

They were treated at a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries and subsequently arrested on multiple charges, including attempted murder. Yingling and Orozco were transported to San Francisco County Jail.

The driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash was treated at the scene for non-life threatening injuries.

An investigation remains ongoing. San Francisco Police asked anyone with information to call their tip line at 1-415-575-4444 or text a tip to TIP411 and begin the message with "SFPD."
