The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Alex Portillo-Bienemann, a resident of Brentwood, was found driving at the south end of the airport in a sterile area away from the runway. Several patrol cars barricaded the vehicle and prevented him from moving any further.

Portillo-Bienemann emerged from his car and was taken into custody without incident.

During the arrest, he made multiple statements about two explosive devices in his possession, one that he swallowed and another that was in his vehicle. Police determined that those claims were unfounded after no explosive items or devices were located.

The suspect was taken to a local hospital and is currently being treated for ingesting an unknown amount of an unknown medication. After he is discharged, officials said he will be booked for trespassing onto airport property and delaying officers. He will also be provided mental health services.

No damage was reported to airport property.
