Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash in San Jose on Monday morning.

The accident occurred at approximately 7:47 a.m., authorities said in a press release. An adult male riding a 2009 Yamaha motorcycle was traveling eastbound in the number three lane on Story Road just west of Capitol Expressway. The motorcyclist left the roadway and collided with an electrical box on the south curb of Story Road, causing the rider to strike a light post.
The rider sustained "major injuries" and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident is the 22nd fatal collision in 2022, and the victim was the 23rd person to die from the collisions, according to police.
The identity of the victim was not released by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office.
