Santa Clara and Fresno counties are the latest to open up vaccines to younger adults.
They’re a week ahead of the state's schedule, which will allow Californians ages 16 and older to get a vaccine beginning next Thursday. Santa Clara County health officials told KCBS Radio that while the age group can now sign up to get a vaccine, getting an appointment will be extremely difficult.
Appointments were "completely booked" as of Friday morning, officials said.
Alameda County is also allowing residents 16 and up to get a shot, however, you must live in certain hard-hit ZIP codes in places like Oakland and San Leandro to qualify. COVID-19 vaccines are available to the same age group, free of restrictions, in Contra Costa County.
Meanwhile, California health officials are warning of decreasing supplies because of a national reduction in the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
The state received about 2.4 million vaccine doses this week.
It's expecting 2 million doses next week, and 1.9 million the week after that.
