San Francisco is moving one of its free COVID-19 testing sites from the SoMa neighborhood across town to the Alemany Farmers' Market.
San Francisco’s southeastern neighborhoods have been hit hard by the coronavirus. Up to this point, the city has been doing outreach and pop-up testing in that sector.
“We will go out to the communities and set up testing on a once a week basis, and ensure outreach to the communities so they can come to testing sites,” said Deputy Health Director Dr. Naveena Bobba.
Dr. Bobba told KCBS Radio that officials are investing more consistent resources in the area by moving one of the City Test SF sites from 7th and Brannan Streets in the SoMa neighborhood to the Alemany Farmer’s Market.
“The testing site will have 500 tests available per day,” she said. “It will be open five days a week, and, initially, it will have both walk-in and drive-thru testing available.”
The SoMa site shutdown last week, and will re-open at Alemany on Tuesday.
The City Test sites prioritize testing for essential workers and people that either have COVID-19 symptoms or have been in contact with someone who has been infected.
